Following Its ISO 9001 Certification, UFC Begins Preparing for ISO 21001:2025 Certification for Educational Organizations

As part of its ongoing efforts to foster a culture of quality and improve the performance of its various departments, the President of the University of Continuing Education, Professor Yahia Djaafri, chaired a meeting on Thursday, October 8, 2026, bringing together university officials, representatives of the Algerian Institute for Standardization (IANOR), and participants in the quality transformation project. The meeting was dedicated to presenting and discussing the proposed adoption of an educational organization management system in accordance with the ISO 21001:2025 standard. This meeting marks a continuation of the university’s quality assurance efforts, following its achievement of ISO 9001:2015 certification last year. This milestone reflects the university’s commitment to improving institutional performance, enhancing the effectiveness of its management systems and administrative and academic operations, and moving toward an integrated quality management framework. During the meeting, experts from the Algerian Institute for Standardization presented an overview of the proposed implementation of ISO 21001:2025, a standard dedicated to management systems for educational organizations. It aims to improve the quality of educational and training services and enhance their responsiveness to the needs of students, learners, and other interested parties. The discussion also addressed the specific features of this standard and its suitability for educational institutions, including higher education institutions and vocational training centers. In this regard, the University of Continuing Education reaffirmed its commitment to adopting an integrated management system combining ISO 9001 and ISO 21001. This approach will enable the university to benefit from the general quality management framework provided by the former while developing a specialized framework for educational quality in accordance with the requirements of the latter. Representatives of the Algerian Institute for Standardization also highlighted the importance of this initiative, describing it as a new experience within the Algerian university environment. They reaffirmed the institute’s readiness to provide the university with technical and methodological guidance throughout the various stages of the project, in coordination with the university’s Quality Unit. They also referred to the university’s experience in obtaining ISO 9001:2015 certification within six months, demonstrating the momentum and commitment that have characterized its quality improvement efforts. For his part, the President of the University, Professor Yahia Djaafri, reaffirmed the university administration’s commitment to providing the necessary conditions for the successful implementation of this project. He emphasized the importance of continued support from the Algerian Institute for Standardization, particularly in light of the structural and legal reforms currently underway at the university. He explained that the university now has a new organizational structure and is preparing for the issuance of a new ministerial order governing its academic programs. These developments are expected to support modernization, strengthen governance, and improve academic and administrative performance. This project marks a new stage in the University of Continuing Education’s efforts to establish a culture of quality and continuous improvement and transition toward an integrated institutional management system that meets the requirements of modern higher education. It will also help enhance the quality of training and services provided to students, in line with the university’s vision of building a modern, flexible institution that keeps pace with national and international developments in education and training.
