Distance learning: from mail correspondence to the digital university
From its founding, the university focused on distance learning as a way to spread knowledge to the largest possible number of students across the country who could not attend on-campus for various reasons. This teaching went through several stages across different means of communication, in the following chronological order.
The correspondence stage
From its founding, the University of Continuing Education relied for distance learning on the means then used in various countries and universities: delivering course materials by postal mail.
The distance-learning stage
Faced with the difficulties of correspondence (address errors, high mailing costs, delayed delivery), the university introduced new, more effective training policies to improve distance learning and keep pace with evolving communication tools.
The open and distance learning stage
With a new generation fluent in modern information and communication tools, the university kept pace by organizing meetings and signing partnership agreements to develop and adopt open and distance learning through interactive digital platforms.
