The meeting was attended by the University’s Vice-Rectors and executives. The meeting marked the culmination of the recruitment process initiated by the University at the beginning of 2026. Following the completion of the various procedures in coordination with the Public Service authorities, the process resulted in the allocation of 50 funded positions for new faculty members, as part of the University’s efforts to strengthen its teaching capacity and reinforce its permanent faculty. In his address, the University Director welcomed the new faculty members, stressing that the recruitment process represents an important milestone in strengthening the University’s human resources, given its growing needs in terms of teaching and academic supervision. He explained that the University currently relies on approximately 141 permanent faculty members and 4,000 adjunct faculty members, while working year after year to expand permanent recruitment and gradually reduce its reliance on temporary teaching staff. Professor Yahia Djaafri emphasized that the University expects the new faculty members to bring genuine added value through their contribution to enhancing teaching performance, supporting scientific research, and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, in line with the University’s orientations and its growing openness to its economic and social environment. In this regard, he highlighted the important role expected of these highly qualified professionals in supporting students, strengthening relations with economic institutions and start-ups, contributing to the University’s engagement with its external partners, and enhancing its presence in the research and academic community, given that the new faculty members combine teaching practice with research activities. The University Director added that strengthening the body of faculty members and researchers would contribute to enhancing the University’s presence and competitiveness, support its efforts to raise its academic and research standards, and improve its standing and reputation, thereby strengthening its position within the higher education landscape. For his part, Professor Adala Laadjil, Coordinator of the Training and Pedagogical Support Unit, presented an overview of the training program designed for the new faculty members. He explained that the training program is structured around five main areas comprising 27 topics, covering professional responsibility, the objectives of university education, pedagogy and educational psychology, teaching facilitation techniques and training assessment, competency assessment, specialized pedagogy, the redesign of training programs, as well as other topics related to modern pedagogical practice. The meeting also emphasized the importance of pedagogical training in enhancing the competencies of university faculty members and enabling them to keep pace with the requirements of modern higher education, particularly in light of the growing use of distance education and digital learning. This will contribute to improving teaching performance and fostering greater integration and innovation within the University. The meeting also provided an opportunity to introduce the training pathway planned for this stage and to establish channels of coordination and communication between the new faculty members and the University’s units and structures responsible for providing support, thereby ensuring continuous follow-up throughout the training period. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts of the University of Continuing Education to strengthen its human resources and enhance its teaching performance in line with students’ needs and the evolving missions of the University, while advancing its vision of a university that is more open, innovative and engaged with its academic, economic and social environment.
