Speech of the Rector of the University of Continuous Education Didouche Mourad On the occasion of the National Day of Remembrance of the massacres of May 8, 1945
On this national day of remembrance, we pause reverently to remember the souls of the righteous martyrs who sacrificed their lives in defense of the homeland, particularly during the massacres of May 8, 1945.
This date marks a painful station in the history of our nation, where the blood of thousands of martyrs was shed due to the brutality of French colonialism and its unjust policies.
We, as Algerians, must keep the memory of these events alive in the minds of future generations. It is our duty to honor our history and to recognize the sacrifices made to achieve independence and freedom.
Let us raise our heads high with pride and gratitude toward those who offered their lives so that Algeria could live free and dignified.
Glory and eternity to our righteous martyrs, and long live free Algeria.
