In a festive and scholarly atmosphere, the University of Continuous Education – Didouche Mourad organized a special event on Sunday, May 25, 2025, to celebrate its anniversary, coinciding with the commemoration of Africa Day. This event was held under the supervision of the university’s rector, Prof. Yahia Jafri, with the attendance of former university presidents, the rector of the University of Algiers 1, faculty members, university officials, and students.
In his opening speech, Prof. Jafri emphasized the importance of maintaining this annual tradition, which brings together the academic community and highlights the university’s role in education, scientific research, and knowledge dissemination. He noted the university’s expanding enrollment, which has now surpassed 70,000 students across multiple specialized fields. He also outlined the university’s progress and integration with the economic and social environment, particularly with its new business interfaces. He urged for this anniversary to be used as an opportunity to reinforce the university’s scientific influence nationally.
Additionally, Prof. Jafri announced the university’s commitment to establishing its founding day as a National Distance Learning Day, with aspirations to gain international recognition for this initiative. He highlighted ongoing efforts to create a stimulating environment for international students starting next academic year, covering four key fields: Law, Economics, Media, and Technical English.
A documentary titled « University of Continuing Education: From Foundation to Excellence » was presented, tracing the university’s journey.
The event featured several academic lectures, including one by Prof. Ali Mouhoush, titled « The Path and Transformations of the University of Continuous Education ». His discussion addressed key milestones and challenges, particularly in distance learning and artificial intelligence.
In honor of Africa Day, a documentary titled « Africa… Challenges and Opportunities » was screened, shedding light on the continent’s realities and future development prospects. Additionally, Prof. Saida Salama, an expert in African studies from the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations at Algiers 3 University, delivered a lecture titled « Algeria: A Driving Force for Africa. » Her presentation outlined Algeria’s strategic vision for the continent and its role in promoting South-South cooperation.
To further enhance the competitive and celebratory spirit, several distinguished individuals and university officials were honored. The university also recognized winners of the First National Scientific Clubs Competition for Media and Communication, themed « The Image of the University of Continuous Education – Didouche Mourad: Educational Dimensions and Future Challenges. »
In parallel with the event, a blood donation campaign was held outside the main hall, reflecting the university’s commitment to social responsibility.
This occasion reaffirmed that the University of Continuous Education – Didouche Mourad remains a beacon of knowledge, welcoming all those aspiring for academic advancement. Now marking 35 years since its founding, the university continues to thrive, drawing on its rich experience and ambitious vision for the future.
