University of Continuous Education organizes an open meeting between journalists and media and communication students.
On Thursday, May 2, 2024, the University of Continuous Education organized an open meeting with media students, which brought together representatives of the media family and students specializing in media and communication sciences at the university, on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, which falls on May 3 of each year. This meeting was attended by a representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Abdeljbar Daoudi, the advisor in charge of communication, as well as many actors in the media field in addition to students of media and communication sciences at the University of Continuous Education, where the meeting was an opportunity for communication and exchange of experiences and opinions between the attendees.
In his welcome address, the university rector, Professor Yahya Jaafari, touched on the experience of the University of Continuous Education in targeted scientific media through specialized content for visual, radio and television lessons, and its leading role in distance education, especially what is related to auditory and audiovisual lessons. Professor Yahya Jaafari also announced the return of the university’s television episode to broadcasting in the near future via the Knowledge Channel of the Public Television Establishment.
In a speech by the media advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Abdeljbar Daoudi, he presented his sincere gratitude for the efforts made by the university’s media and scientific family, especially since « the teacher has the task of transmitting knowledge and acquisitions to the future cadres of the nation, namely the students. »
For his part, the director of the National Higher School of Press and Information Sciences, Professor Dr. Haj Salem Attia, emphasized the responsibility placed on journalists to select and transmit information in accordance with the rules of the profession. The official in charge of the field of human and social sciences, Professor Dr. Kalati Abdel Karim, moved towards appreciating the role of higher training that the University of Continuous Education assumes in the specialization of media and communication, where the first graduation batch at the master’s level witnessed, which enhances the training capabilities offered by the distance education system and by exploiting electronic educational platforms.
On the occasion, the interventions witnessed the presentation of the technical framework adopted in the production of pedagogical content for distance education, where Dr. Zine El Din Safadj focused on the university’s efforts in training teachers, whether in the field of designing lessons and converting them into broadcastable formats by developing theatrical scenarios that give the expected media dimension of the lessons, and it is the training effort that the university has undertaken and allowed the training of all its permanent professors in addition to professors of other universities, where the number of beneficiaries of the training process reached 500 professors. Thus, the University of Continuous Education has laid the foundation that allows for the expansion of the distance education model.
It is worth noting that the University of Continuous Education has 5,300 students in the specialization of media and communication sciences, both bachelor’s and master’s degrees, where the first bachelor’s degree batch for this season is expected to graduate with 700 students.
The occasion was an opportunity for a number of prominent journalists working in public radio and television, in particular, to emphasize the importance of their professional experience that started from the University of Continuous Education’s media, and Mr. Abdelrahman Khallas, Director of the Programs Production Directorate at the Public Television Establishment, and Ms. Badia Haddad, presenter of the « Public Service » program on the third radio channel, where their testimonies represented a picture of the opportunities that the University of Continuous Education has made available to integrate university graduates in media and communication specializations in specialized scientific media work.
During this meeting, the top students of the graduating batch for the academic year 2022-2023 in the specialization of written and electronic press were honored, and journalists and media professionals were honored on the occasion.
On the sidelines of the meeting, a visit was organized to the university’s audiovisual center, where students and journalists received comprehensive explanations about the methods of work in the center and the means and equipment used in the production of the audiovisual lessons that are broadcast on the university’s radio and television lesson.
