The Scientific Council of the Continuous EducationUniversity convened on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the university’s headquarters. The inaugural session was attended by the Rector of the Continuous EducationUniversity, Professor Yahia Djafari, along with his deputies, regional directors, center directors, and sub-directors.
In his opening remarks, the Rector of the University addressed the progress of the 2023-2024 academic year, highlighting a notable start with 70,957 students enrolled in bachelor’s and master’s programs. The university anticipates graduating its first batch of bachelor’s students, totaling 4,425 graduates, and 5,144 master’s students. This academic year was particularly significant for its rich pedagogical content and for the first time, the academic year will conclude within the designated timeframe.
The Rector emphasized that the university faces numerous challenges, including the challenge of excellence, competence, and performance. Distance learning is considered the suitable and future-oriented educational approach for the university.
The Continuous EducationUniversity is also embarking on several projects to clarify its mission and objectives, including an institutional project that the strategic planning team is working on, envisioning a five-year plan. The importance of governance in professional and academic work was underscored, particularly as this year focuses on training at the university. Efforts are underway to establish a center for intensive remote language learning, which will also serve as an application for level testing.
Furthermore, student activities, particularly the establishment of green clubs, were highlighted. The Rector stressed that each center should have a green club and a sports team to provide a healthy environment for students, promoting their mental, physical, and social well-being.
The university will also introduce the concept of a visiting student, allowing students from various disciplines and universities to access educational platforms to explore and benefit from the university’s pedagogical content, with the option to evaluate their acquired knowledge remotely.
The university is also pursuing various partnerships and cooperative projects, in addition to fostering the involvement of its graduates in constructive proposals and positive support for university programs and activities.
The Scientific Council’s proceedings included a presentation by the Vice-Directorate for Studies and Pedagogy, announcing new specialties in preparation for the 2024/2025 academic year, such as:
Master’s in Labor Law and Social Security, Investment Law, Criminal Law, Public Relations and Communication, Economic Media and Communication, Organizational Change Sciences, Leadership and Development in English, Bachelor’s in Museology, and School Psychology.
Professional Bachelor’s degrees in various specialties under the Ministry of Fisheries and Fishery Products.
The Rector emphasized the completion of all pedagogical work, including the issuance of certificates, by June 30.
The University’s Vice-Rectorate for Communication and Intersectoral Relations focused on organizing professional competitions and exams under the supervision of the National Center for Competitions and Exams. The university also oversees qualifying and supplementary training for civil service staff, as well as preparatory training during internships for special and common civil service sectors.
The Quality Cell of the Continuous EducationUniversity presented a development project for the university, which involves managing regulations and organizational texts, establishing a strategic planning committee, and initiating a SWOT analysis focusing on pedagogical and procedural challenges.
The council discussed and approved several decisions and recommendations for managing the end-of-year activities and preparing for new registrations.
