On the occasion of National Immigration Day, commemorating the 63rd anniversary of the October 17, 1961 demonstrations, and under the slogan « Pride of Belonging… A Journey of Loyalty, » the centers of the University of Continuous Education across various provinces observed a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs of the October 17, 1961 demonstrations. This is a rightful moment for every Algerian to recall both the suffering and the sacrifices of our people in the face of a brutal colonization that spared no one — neither the elderly, nor the young, nor women, nor children, nor even stone or tree. This cruel aggression, rarely seen in history, includes the suppression of peaceful Algerian demonstrators demanding independence on this day, when they were thrown into the Seine River in Paris, leaving behind hundreds of martyrs and thousands of injured and missing.
