University of Continuous Education Concludes the Academic Year and Honors Top Achievers

   On Saturday, July 12, 2025, the University of Continuous Education – Didouche Mourad hosted a formal ceremony marking the conclusion of the 2024–2025 academic year. The event radiated pride and recognition for excellence, featuring distinguished guests including former ministers, members of parliament, and representatives from various sectors. Notable attendees included: 

– Prof. Chems Eddine Chitour, on behalf of the President of the Council of the Nation 

– Si El Hachemi Assad, Secretary-General of the High Commission for Amazighity 

– Representatives from the Supreme Court, National Council for Human Rights, High Authority for Transparency, and other key national institutions 

– University rectors, heads of national councils, and representatives of research centers, justice administration, labor unions, and cultural institutions 

– Honorary guests: former ministers Prof. Amar Sakhri, Prof. Ahmed Zegdar, and distinguished scholar Prof. Abdelmajid Gadi 

– Alongside university faculty, students, and staff

The event began with a Quran recitation by student Abd Elkarim Hassani (El Bayadh Center), followed by a rendition of the national anthem by the Islamic Scouts – Cheraga Troop.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Yahia Jafri, University Rector, highlighted the university’s exceptional growth this season, guided by the directives of Minister Prof. Kamel Baddari. Key statistics: 

– 16,000 graduates 

– 79,000 enrolled students — a fivefold increase in recent years 

– 35th anniversary of the university’s founding as a leading institution in distance education

 In entrepreneurship, the university recorded a leap: 

– From 54 startup project candidates last year to over 370 this year 

– Signed 220 partnership agreements with economic and social institutions 

– Enhanced alignment with labor market needs

 In digital education: 

– Developed over 60 online platforms 

– Educated students aged 17 to 80, spread across 54 centers in 49 provinces 

– Trained 250 English-language faculty for the University of Health Sciences 

– Integrated English into 100+ courses across 15 institutions

 In restorative justice: 

– Collaborated with the Directorate of Prison Administration 

– Provided education to 2,054 incarcerated individuals, promoting post-sentence integration

 The ceremony culminated in honoring outstanding university members: 

– Top-performing students from all specialties, including one incarcerated student 

– “Five-Star Students” recognized for excellence in academics, leadership, community service, and innovation 

– Recipients of the “Label” distinction, student-athletes, and entrepreneurs 

– Professors promoted to “Professor” rank 

– The oldest student, exemplifying lifelong learning 

– A student with disabilities, celebrated for perseverance and achievement

 This celebration embodied the spirit of an ambitious university advancing steadily to reinforce its role in national academia and serve both students and society.
