On November 10, 2024, in the Wilaya of Bejaia, the new academic year for incarcerated students in rehabilitation institutions nationwide was officially launched.

   This event was attended by Mr. Said Zerab, the Director General of Prisons and Reintegration, and Dr. Yahia Jafri, Rector of the University of Continuous Education, along with local authorities, security and judicial representatives, and members of civil society and the media.

   Dr. Jafri praised the partnership between the University of Continuous Education and the prison administration, now in its second year, which supports bachelor’s and master’s education for 2,059 students.

Success rates last year reached 100% in the master’s and 92% in the bachelor’s program.

The collaboration aims to foster successful reintegration for incarcerated individuals.
